Review of the December 8 Show at Ivories
Yesterday—Sunday—I was thrilled to hear the Linda Lee Michelet “Burt Bacharach Tribute” concert—with about 60 others packed into Ivories. The volume was loud—but surprisingly, just right! I said thrilled, and I meant it. The band played superbly, Linda wandered the audience with her wireless microphone, her kids took turns singing, as did pianist, Joe Millward. This was one of the most professional performances I’ve experienced at Ivories, and brought back memories of the great songs of Hal David. Horn solos by Pete Peterson on sax, and Thomas Barber on trumpet, added a jazzy sheen to the sound, and left us wanting more. AND we’re gonna get more, ‘cause Linda is back for Valentines Day at Ivories, with her big band.
