For this recording, I chose three great singers, Peggy Lee, Anita O’Day and Nancy Wilson, selecting for the most part, big band driven arrangements. This was an ambitious project with 17 tunes, 12 of them big band tunes rearranged for 4 horns: alto sax/flute, tenor sax, trumpet and trombone. It was rewarding to resurrect these great arrangements that, for the most part, hadn’t been performed for 50 years or more.
Linda Lee’s loving interpretations of these favorites by Peggy Lee, Anita O’Day, and Nancy Wilson features original arrangements pared down from a big band to four horns by pianist Joe Millward, resulting in a whole new sound! This cd was recorded at Falcon Recording Studios in Portland, Oregon in 2010.

“Michelet dives into the ’50s and ’60s with a great sense of melody on this small big band disc. She takes the tunes of three great melodicists, Peggy Lee, Nancy Wilson and Anita O’Day, and lovingly recreates them, keeping the tunes much as they were recorded originally, but with a tight, smaller band…. Michelet’s buoyant voice is easy on the ears. Her delivery is warm, inviting and true to the melodies.”
